Professional and Expert Building Contractor

WAP Engineering Limited (WAP) is a professional engineering and consulting company incorporated in Uganda. WAP has been an active member in the construction industry for over 12 years and has undertaken a number of medium-sized civil construction projects in Uganda, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and has the technical and management skills necessary to take on a variety of construction related projects. Our expertise spans the construction industry spectrum, from smaller renovations to multi-million dollars projects. We specialize in civil and construction engineering which covers; earthworks, construction of residential, educational, healthcare and some industrial facilities.

We first registered in South Sudan in 2006, and later registered in Uganda in 2007. WAP was started by three (3) shareholders with equal shareholding and is under the oversight of a strong board with diverse skills. The Board ensures proper governance, professionalism, and positioning of WAP for essential networks and capabilities to execute projects.

          We are currently registered with; Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA), and the National Supplier Database in the Oil and Gas Sector. Over-time we have positioned ourselves with various professional players in the construction industry. These include engineers, real estate owners, multiple suppliers, architects, contractors, financial institutions, government agencies, and private organizations. We have the requisite experience in the construction and execution of engineering contracts, procurement of construction works, and the requisite human resources.

We are known for building and delivering innovative facilities for our individual, corporate, institutional, and government clients. Eng. Primo Wasswa
Founder & Engineer (Since 2006)

Eng. Wasswa is a focused, dynamic and results oriented  construction manager with extensive experience delivering construction and engineering projects for government organizations, the UN and other NGOs. Accustomed to effectively managing a range of complex and pertinent projects; directing all operational activities to ensure the project is completed in accordance with the initial brief; meeting all timeframe and budgetary constraints. Considered to be a trustworthy, reliable and competent manager who is able to lead a team to work efficiently and cohesively and ensure contract profitability, without any compromise in standards or safety.           

Eng. Wasswa holds Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation from Makerere University 2014, BSc degree in Construction Management from University of Liverpool 2007 (online Course), Diploma in Building and Civil Engineering: Kyambogo University 2000.

Eng. Dr. Nicholas Omoding
Principal Engineer (Since 2019.)

Eng. Nicholas is a Registered Engineer with Uganda Engineers Registration Board since 2016. He is a Member of Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers since 2016. Eng. Nicholas achieved a PhD in Civil Engineering from University of Manchester UK in 2022, MSc in Structural Engineering (with Distinction) from University of Manchester, UK in 2015 and BEng in Civil and Building Engineering (1st Class Hons.) from Kyambogo University   in 2010. He has PRINCE2 in Project Management (Foundation   and Practitioner) Certification, 2022 and is a Member of Disciplinary Committee, Architects Registration Board of Uganda (2022).

Eng. Nicholas’s core competences span experience in legislation, design codes and standards for construction for Uganda and UK. He is a Certified Practitioner of PRINCE2 Project Management methodology; experience in technical design and construction supervision for large civil engineering works; with several engineering software, AutoCAD, Prokon, Tekla, CSC Orion; excellent report writing and knowledge transfer skills; skilled in effective management of project scope, quality, cost, time, risk, and benefits; multi-disciplinary experience from working across different development sectors; cross-cultural understanding from working in international environments in Uganda and UK; people management and communication skills in knowledge-based organizations.

Eng. Margaret Ocan Omal
Engineer (Since 2018)

Eng. Margaret has Bachelor of Engineering in Civil and Building Engineering from Kyambogo University. She has over 15 years’ experience in building and construction projects and 2 years’ experience in road projects. Eng. Margaret has a solid understanding of areas of coordination of integrated projects in both relief and development in partnership with Communities, Government departments, NGOs, donors and other stake holders.

Her expertise span project planning, Finance and human resources management because of strong interpersonal communication skills, teamwork and negotiation skills.

Arch. Harriet Tumusiime
Architect (Since 2023)

Arch. Harriet is an architectural designer experienced in planning, designing and supervising construction of institutional spaces focused on sustainability, user well-being, spatial efficiency and cost effectiveness. Skilled in the development and management of architectural and master planning processes relating to buildings, amenities, and landscapes in the construction industry.

Arch. Harriet holds Bachelor’s Degree in Building Design and Technology from Uganda Martyrs University and Master’s Degree in Architecture from Uganda Martyrs University.

Mr. Dickson Avutia
Founder & Business Development Specialist (Since 2006).

Mr. Avutia has competences in project development and implementation. He has good analytical skills, critical thinking, problem solving abilities, and demonstrated skills of managing grants. Mr. Avutia has passion for entrepreneurship. He also has experience in accounting, budget planning and monitoring gained over the 20 years while implementing a number of projects in a public agency & private practices.

Mr. Avutia holds a Master’s degree in Management Studies – Financial Management (MMS-FM) 2010 from Uganda Management Institute (UMI), Postgraduate diploma (PGD)-(FM) from UMI 2004 and Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Accounting from Barkatullah University – India 1998.

Mr. John B. Kabandize
Company Secretary (Since 2014)

John B. Kabandize is the Company Secretary and Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs at WAP Engineering Ltd. He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre and he is currently enrolled on a Master’s Degree in Oil and Gas at the Institute of Petroleum Studies, Kampala Uganda.

John has been in private practice for over 20 years. He is a member of the Uganda Law Society and the East African Law Society. He is currently admitted to practise law as an Advocate, a Commissioner for Oaths and a Notary Public in Uganda. John has extensive

experience in private legal practice and specifically has legal practice experience in Commercial Law, Arbitration and Mediation, Labour and Employment Law, Land Transaction, Acquisitions and Resettlements, and Environment and Natural Resources law.

He has acted for and advised various international and domestic clients in commercial law transactions. He has also acted as legal specialist and advisor on major environmental and natural resources and infrastructure policy development consulting assignments. For    instance, he was engaged as Legal Expert on the consulting team for the preparation of the National Transport Master Plan for Uganda and he is currently engaged as Legal Expert and part of the team for preparation of the National Irrigation Master Plan. Accordingly, John brings to the Company and its Board experience, skill, diligence and   extensive knowledge in infrastructure development projects and their management.

Eng. Bernard Okuyo
Engineer (Since 2021)

Eng. Barnard is a Member of American Society for Civil Engineers (No: 9902317), a Corporate Member of Uganda Institution of professional Engineers (PE No: 1148) and a Registered Civil Engineer with Engineers Registration Board (ERB) (ERB No; 1055).

Eng. Bernard holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from   Makerere University and has a certificate of management in practice in first-aid training and ISO in-house training in   Quality Management.

Eng. Bernard’s competences include civil / structural construction engineering management, design and supervision spanning across buildings, road works, public infrastructure, water supply systems and wireless infrastructures in telecommunications industry.

QS. Mark Rujumba
QS (Since 2022).

Mark is a Registered Quantity Surveyor of Uganda SRB No. 377, and Professional Member of Surveyors of Uganda (MISU) – Quantity Surveying Chapter. Mark has Advanced Diploma in Professional Practice in Contract Management from College of Contract Management, UK. He has Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management from Uganda Management Institute and Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying from Makerere University.

Mark has administrated both building and civil contracts for infrastructure works and, has led project facets from design planning, implementation and contract management & administration to project closeout, as well as, negotiated Final accounts for construction projects.

QS. Stella Nakimuli
QS (Since 2020)

Stella has expertise in contract administration, quantity surveying, reporting skills, data management and visualization skills, regulatory compliance, monitoring & evaluation and record keeping.

Stella holds Bachelor of Science Degree in Quantity Surveying from Makerere University.
